Roles and responsibilities
- Execute business research projects in the area of strategy, procurement and/or marketing for various clients – including large corporations operating in the industrials space globally
- Contribute to the entire project lifecycle through exhaustive research, data interpretation, insight generation/analysis and report preparation
- Understand research objectives based on client requirements and accordingly build a work approach; interpret and analyse information for accuracy, exhaustiveness and applicability
- Conduct exhaustive secondary research on a variety of topics across sources such as company websites, industry reports, market studies, general news articles as well as databases, and other relevant sources
- Synthesise analytical and actionable insights – through qualitative and quantitative methods – which provide solutions to client’s business problem, and present this information in a structured manner
- Deliver high-quality, client-ready output with minimal supervision; identify risks/issues and escalate those to project leads in a timely manner
Ideal Candidate
- 1 to 3.5 years of experience in business research ; extensive experience in utilizing those skills in research environment
- Experience of direct interaction with clients, both through emails and conference calls
- Experience of working in teams
- Creative outlook and ability to think of multiple approaches to address a problem
- Analytical bend of mind, to seek the why, how and so-what of a problem statement
- Motivated, quick thinker, dynamic person with strong business acumen
- Demonstrate perseverance and ‘can do’ attitude
- Go getter with quick grasping ability
- Proactive and ready to take initiative
- Strong team player with a zeal to learn
- Any specialisation/background in the Industrials sub-sectors, MBA: Desirable
- Experience of supervising/managing the work of a relatively junior analyst
- Experience in manufacturing/industrials space (added advantage)
- Superior analytical skills to analyse and interpret both qualitative and quantitative information
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Ability to maintain quality levels across studies and manage projects with minimum direction
- Ability to write reports (headlines, summary and recommendations) with no grammatical or data interpretation errors
- Ability to conduct open ended primary research to garner industry specific insights
- Knowledge of analytical frameworks like Porter’s 5 forces, BCG matrix, and understanding of business dynamics of various industries and basic economics
- Proficiency in Power Point, Excel and Word to deliver the desired output in a creative and aesthetically appealing format
- Knowledge of one’s educational background with clear understanding of fundamentals and concepts
- Knowledge of various databases such as Lexis, Thomson, Factiva and ProFound
